Transparency Doesn’t Mean You Give Away the Farm

I received an email asking me to post a notice on a client’s website. 

Nothing extraordinary there, but this time it was to say that they would be leaving for a family holiday over Christmas and that their last shipping date would be Dec. 18th. 

Again, on the surface, that sounds fine…however, their address is listed on every page of their website.  Don’t know about you, but I can’t think of a better way to tell the entire world that “we’ll be gone, so please come rob our house”.

Granted, they don’t get a thousand visitors a month, nor are they in the diamond or gold business, but still — it’s their stuff.

Needless to say, I changed the notice, informed them and they thanked me for it.  Mission accomplished.
